    Lightbulb Inserting data from one sheet to another based on same ID

    Hi!

    I would be glad to get help on this isse-googeling has so far not solved it for me.

    I have two Excelsheets-which both contain multiple columns. The leftmost column (A-column) in both sheets contains "ID", and this is the basis for the operation I want to carry out.


    I want to insert data in column B (sheet 1) based on column B (sheet 2). What rows to pick data from should depend upon the matching of the ID between column A in sheet 1 and 2.

    In other words- if the ID is 100002 I need to return corresponding values for that ID into the other sheet. All IDs exist in both sheets-but sheet 1 contain duplicates.


    Help is greatly appreciated!

    So if sheet 1 contains duplicates, how do you want to handle this?

    I want the duplicates to stay just as they are. In other words-no other formatting than inserting values corresponding to the same ID in another sheet.

    This doesn't answer my question - sorry!

    You had better attach a sample workbook showing what you want (mock up a few lines of data manually showing how you want the duplicate IDs to show on the second sheet).

    Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    I will try to insert the two sheets as images below. So the columns (B,C) in red in sheet2 I want to be filled in automatically based on data in sheet 1.
    I wrote the red entries manually just to clarify how I want the outcome to look.

    No, I asked you to attach the workbook - NOT a picture of it. Instructions are in my previous post. Please provide what we ask you for - it will speed things up.
