Hi,
How many rows of data can a pivot table handle comfortably?
I am planning to have up to 750,000 or is there a better way?
Thanks
Kevin

PowerPivot ? Power Query?
I just had a look at PowerPivot......It looks like the way to go.
Are 750k rows to many for a pivot table do you know?
Thanks for looking
Kevin
A standard Excel worksheet has 1 miljon rows. so technicly no. it is not to much.
Powerpivot should handle 750K rows easily.
Performance will depend on the complexity of the rows. 50 or 150 columns makes a difference and the amount of complex formulas in the datasheet also have an impact.
lastly using comfortably is difficult criteria. I know users who start complaining after 5 seconds waiting that the sheet is slow.
I also have users that gladly wait 30sec to 1 min to recalculate and update. because it saves them half a day manual building the sheet.
For me a more important criteria is that while excel is calculating my pc stays available for other tasks like reading mail
or replying to a post on Excel forum
30sec to 1 min is no problem for me.........I have never used PowerPivot but from what I have just read and with some help from this forum I am sure I will manage.
Thanks
Kevin
