    Formatting for Copy and Paste

I am creating a blank 'run sheet', This sheet is currently using merged cells (evil I know but Merge and center doesn't work for me for what I've seen).

This sheet is going to be used by people of all levels of excel experience so I'd like it to be able to just be copied and pasted.

I have information across the top that the drivers need to fill in and this is using different sized boxes to the locations that will hold the customers.

I have hit a roadblock as for what to do to achieve my goal as we do not want the top section to be a picture as it makes future editing by less skilled people difficult.

I have attached a mockup of what I'm trying to achieve and will add in the top field what it comes out like when you copy and paste.

When copying and pasting we tend to do it by copying multiple fields and pasting them across.

Edit: Solved in a roundabout way see my final post or read it below.

Instead of using merged cells I expanded the columns. I then made my smaller 'cells' by drawing lines from Insert > Shapes > Line.

The spacing of text becomes the fiddly bit then but it enables the copy paste aspect of what I required.

I have looked at your workbook. I copied and pasted it to a new sheet and see no difference. Perhaps you should post a copy of what your pasted document looks like. I don't understand what your issue is.

I apologise, didn't explain properly obviously.

I am copying from somewhere else to populate the customer and address field on the run sheet.

When I do so it ends up like the top line when I want it to look like the second line.

Perhaps we need to see the source document to better understand what is happening. Are you copying manually or using VBA. If VBA, include it so that it can be analyzed.

Re: Formatting for Copy and Paste

Please find attached a sheet that's similar to what we have set up. I have had to remove customer names and addresses for privacy reasons.

The only difference is that we have a lot more customers per page. And multiple pages for the customers and run sheets.

What we do is copy the Customer and Address field and paste it onto the run sheet into the customer and address field.

With the new run sheet I have set up you end up with the customer not pasting properly.

I have added our old run sheet style as well that used expanded columns rather than merged.

Here is your issue. You need to come up with a different design that does not use merged cells. While it may look pretty, it is going to continue to be an issue for you. I don't have a work around for you.
