Count city names in A based on date in B

I have a long chart with many city names in column A and then dates in Column B. I want to count the number of time the city name is present when the date is the same...
in this case Barrie is shown 4 times when the date is 21-Jan-19 and 4 times when the date is 28-Oct-19.

Any assistance appreciated as this is the last formula in what has been a more complicated than needed to be project!!!!

In column C1 (assuming your data starts in A1):
=COUNTIFS(A:A,A1,B:B,B1)
and drag down.

Take a copy of the list and remove duplicates.

For this new list use the COUNTIFS function to count how many times each combination appears.
