The query did not run or the database table could not be opened

I get this error when trying to refresh data in a workbook which is linked to an Access database on a server. It works fine with the workbook on the same server as the database but does not update if the workbook is on a client PC. It is not network related because I can navigate to the query in from the spreadsheet. I have searched all over and it would appear to be permissions based but I cannot find where the problem lies. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the pathname in the connection. Make sure it references the full absolute path to the database: e.g. \\servername\directoruy\sub-directory\databasename.accdb.

[Edit] Go to Data -> Connections -> Properties. The connection string and command string will be shown. You can edit these fields directly. I recommend copy / paste to notepad or other editor and then copy / paste back.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

I've checked that and it makes no difference if the path is the full UNC or references a shared drive.

I have the same error. I also tried above suggestion and it says "This data source contains no visible tables". What does it means?
