It would help if you attached a sample Excel workbook.

To do this, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and then on Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

Don't try to use the Paperclip icon, as it doesn't work on this forum.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Hello.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
Choose the currency on cell C3. The yellow cell will change according to the chosen currency.

Re: Automatically change all currency cells based on 1 drop down list

Thanks, but unfortunately not what I am looking for.

I have attached a demo copy of the spreadsheet minus a few pages as they are personal client information.

But if you look at the attached. Cell F3 is were you will select the currency, the cells E20, K12 and K16, the actual currency should change.

The attached is used for client reviews. Some client hold different currencies and as a business we have over 7,000 client to manually change each cell can become tedious. Currency conversion is not an issue as I don’t need to convert the currencies exchange rate, but rather just currency symbol.

    Hi Alex,
Not an elegant solution but if inserting two columns is not a problem then this should work.

    Hi Oteixeira,

I initially tried this as it was what i used in the past. However as there are now graphs and charts that show values, this method does not work, as the graph will show just numbers and not the number in the represented currencies.

I see...It seems the only chance here is to use VBA and format the desired cells according to the chosen currency.

    Ok,
Check the uploaded file. You will need to allow macro execution when you open it.
Let me know if it worked

Re: Automatically change all currency cells based on 1 drop down list

I've not been following this closely, but couldn't you use conditional formatting to change the currency symbol depending on the value in the drop-down?

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Oteixeira,

Thanks for the attachemnt, it does work. Just two questions, how do I now format the rest of the cells in the spread sheet to get this to work? Then on my side the currency is reflecting on the far right and not on the left of the numbers.

Re: Automatically change all currency cells based on 1 drop down list

you do a conditional format for each currency

use formula to determine which cells to format
    =$F$3="Euro"

then go to format, choose number and select currency as the format with euro

repeat for the other currencies along the same lines
