conitional formatting specific text containing

Hello

I'm a bit of an excel noob, and i'm stuck trying to figure this one out.

I want to condition a an A1 cell in Sheet1 to turn red when I write "x" in A1 on Sheet2

what does the syntax look for this : Specifc Text - containing - =Sheet2!$A$1 (but i dont know where or how to put the 'x' ) in this syntax

Select A1 on sheet1;
Conditional format;
New rule;
Use a formula to determine which cells must be formatted;
Paste this formula in the box
=Sheet2!$A$1="x"
Select desired format.

Conditional formatting won’t work across two worksheets unless you create named ranges and use these instead of cell references.

I put that formula in but it doesn't change the color of the cell, when I type x on sheet 2, not sure why it's not working

could you give me an example on how to make it work with named ranges in that basic set up I had in original post?

It works for me on MS Office Excel 365.
