Worksheet slowing down entire spreadsheet

I have a spreadsheet with multiple worksheets, one of the worksheets is very large and takes a long time to calculate.

Why does this cause the other worksheets to slow down? If I perform an action such as inserting a row onto any of the other worksheets then Excel hangs for ~40 seconds while the operation is performed.

This behaviour occurs even with automatic calculation disabled, so what is actually happening that causes Excel to hang when I insert a cell on the other worksheets?

I narrowed the issue down to the sheet in question as when I delete it the problem disappears entirely.

Is this normal behaviour?

That's interesting actually, when I press Ctrl+End it selects a specific cell around 50 columns to the right of my data, but no matter what I do I cannot remove the cell. I tried deleting the whole column, the whole row, cleared all the formatting. But it still always goes back to that specific cell

Yea I already tried selecting the whole rows around the data and deleting them all but it doesn't seem to make a difference

Ok I figured that out, you need to save, close and then reopen the sheet for it to take effect.

This unfortunately did not solve the issue though
