Pivot chart: Can I filter/hide values in the chart but keep them in the source table?

    Hi guys

I have a pivot table with several columns in it.

In my example (attached ) I have made three columns - two containg values. I want to create a chart that only shows values from one of the columns (the last one).

Based on raw data similar to a pivot table, this is easy, but I simply can not filter or hide the middle column from my chart.
The point of this is to create a visual overview in the chart of my most important KPI (in this example the Advertising costs) and then a person can refer to the pivot table for further data analysis.

I hope you can help - my spreadsheet shows the pivot table + chart as well as a raw data + chart (that works).

Hope that you can tell me if it is possible to do so or not

    Thanks!
    Kind regards
    Morten

To remove the field buttons, right click on any field button and select 'hide all field button on chart' option.
In order to hide the revenue, please click on the clustered column (here, its Orange color) and fill it with no color and no border.
Then adjust the series overlap and gap width using the options under 'Format Data Series' (right click on the Clustered column)

Thank you very much - that solves my problem. I was hoping there was some built in function in Excel that did this by the click of a button, but I guess not. This will be a challenge when I have 6 different columns with data in order to make it look presentable I guess.

But thanks anyway for the explanation and workaround : )

Could you not add another pivot table and base the chart off that.

Then use a slicer connected to both PTs in order to filter Products, assuming you want to be able to do that.

    Thanks!

This also seem to work - I tried however to replicate what you did, but how do you link the two pivot tables? I usually copy them and when I insert a slicer for one of them, it only slices the one I selected? How do I create a slicer that handles both at the same time as you did?
    Thanks again -appreciate it.

I just created 2 pivot tables. Added a chart to the second one, which only had a single column.
Then added a slicer. Right clicked the slicer and used the Report Connections, which included both pt's in the list.

I did not know anything about report connections, but that seems quite powerful - thanks for the double tips!
