Trying to copy a column heading in an excel table to another excel table

My task is to create two excel tables. Both with the same column heading names. One table will be named "Master" and the other table will be named "Sub." I would like to be able to change a column heading name in the "Master" table and it update in the "Sub" table. But, as you are aware if I just reference the location of the heading in the "Master" table to the "Sub" table by using the = sign and then clicking on the reference cell in the "Master table" and then pasting this in the "Sub" table column heading cell I have selected, I end up with a 0 in the column heading. But, if I select and paste this in a non excel table cell, the column heading that I am wanting appears in the cell.

So, I have to assume there must be a different method to doing this. What do you think?

Well, it rather depends on how the tables are being used, but PowerQuery (a free add-in) might be an option.

Thank you Ali, I will look in to PowerQuery. I just do not understand why what seems to be a quick link using a formula such as "=E17", or vlookup(), or some other referencing option will not work on an excel table column heading when it will work for the data cells within the excel table. Ron
