    Simple column format

I'm trying to format cell in a column to display a value a specific way.

In the attachment, column A is how I'm receiving the data from a database dump. Column B is how I would like the data to look.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Sorry for off-topic interjection:

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

    Re: Simple column format

    The formula worked as needed.

For reference: Column A had a value in this format - S0169260720300674 and I was needing it to look - S0169-2607(20)30067-4

GlennUK solved this by writing the following formula

    Formula: copy to clipboard
