How do I copy a formulae between cells

I'm generally OK with excel, by no means an expert, but can get by. Struggle with complex formulas though.
However, i stumbled on what's probably a simple soultion, but i cant find the answer.

Assume A1 calls data from another cell, lets say H2.
In the fx field i'd simply put =H2

But if I try to copy this to B1, C1, D1 etc, then the fx becomes incremental, so i'd end up with =H3, =H4, =H5.
For the life of me, I can't copy =H2 in to mutiple cells of the same column, unless I use ctrl+v, and then tab down, ctrl+v, tab down etc etc etc#
copying the text and tabbing down to paste works, but when i have to do this 300 times, it becomes a chore

Is there a simple way to copy a formula, from one cell to multiple cells without excel interfering?

What do you need? To have =H2 formula in many cells in the same column or something else?

Thank You for changing the title.
But if I try to copy this to B1, C1, D1 etc, then the fx becomes incremental, so i'd end up with =H3, =H4, =H5.
It is hard to understand how this could happen.
If you copy across as described then B1:= I2, C1:=J2 and D1:=K2
To get the fx's stated (=H3, =H4, =H5) the formula would need to be copied down from A1 to A4
Since I am not sure which way you are attempting to copy and since you want to get the value from cell H2, then the easiest suggestion is to place =$H$2 in cell A1 and then copy.
