IF AND OR - Really struggling

Hi all

I am a newbie to the site so thanks for any help in advance.

I really could do with some advice on a problem I have.

I understand the IF command but the criteria always seems to be to use a CELL and then have a result presented when it is more or less than a fixed value. What I am trying to do is get a response from another cell i.e. a comparison between two numbers. I have the below command in and it works.

=IF(O6<Q6,"YES","NO")

However if I change the result in cell O6 to be more than Q6 it still remains as a YES and never returns a NO response.

Any ideas ?

It just returns the same answer that the calculation when entered shows which initially is correct.

I change the values so as to force the different response and nothign happens. It never returns the FALSE response.

I thought it was somethign to do with auto calculate but all this checks out ok

I have copied the calculation down to some blank cells and manually entered values and it works.

The two values I am actually trying to compare are a cell which is the result of a calculation and likewise the other cell.

Sounds as though Q6 is text & not a number.

You were correct. The output from one result was in "" so was not classed as a number.
