Auto fill on a drop down box

In excel i am creating a form with drop down boxes. When you have a long list in the drop down box i would like to be able to start typing the answer and it appear in the drop down filed.

    for example:

List of options - Yellow, Brown, Pink, Black, Blue, White, Orange, Purple.

in the drop down start typing "B" and it changes the list to just Brown, Black and Blue.

then type "BL" and it just shows Blue and Black,

    Thanks for your help.

Re: Auto fill on a drop down box

It is referred to as AutoComplete, rather than Auto Fill.

Debra Dalgleish shows how you can use a Combo Box instead of the usual DV drop-down on her website here:

    https://www.contextures.com/xldataval10.html

This will give you access to many other features, including AutoComplete, adjusting the number of items shown, adjusting width etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Hi Pete_UK,

Thank you i have found he web site very helpful but i has still left me with a few questions / issues.

I have now learned how to create an Active X combo box but it will still not auto fill... is this an additional feature which needs to be ticked?

I don't understand, do you want the combobox in the sheet (not in a userform)?
