Need assistance inserting a pdf file into a cell (just a clickable icon)

Excel Version 16.16.27 on macOS Catalina.

Hi all,

I don't want to display the attachments; I just need them to be clickable.

The goal is to select a person and then populate the cell next to it with a file they've uploaded. Icons would be just fine.

I've tried INSERT/OBJECT/..as file (and clicked icon only), but when I click on any file it says it is unable to insert.

I'm sure there is something obvious I'm overlooking (usually is).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

it was an issue with excel for mac. works on pc.
