I copied cells containing dates from two separate files and pasted them into one column in a new workbook.
For some reason, I am unable to sort this new column by date (see attached excel file).

Only the top 24 rows are true dates - the rest are just text that looks lie dates. YOu need to convert those lower rows to dates first.

Hi,
Put a zero in a spare cell and copy it.
Select A2:A52
From the menu pick Paste...Special...Add
This will convert the string text 'dates' to dates proper.
