Exract list of words containing multiple specified letters

so i have a list of words

    lets say

    apple

    orange

    banana

    papaya

    etc

    etc

basically i want a separate column with only the words that contain two or three P's to be separated

so apple, papaya plus any other words that contained two P's or 3 P's would be extracted to the next column

any formula i can do this

    thanks

so apple, apparel plus any other words that contained 2 or 3 P's would be extracted to the next column

    Re: Data sorting question

    Welcome to the forum.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Administrative Note:

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the version (NOT release number) of Office (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this. Thanks.

As your thread has nothing to do with sorting data, I have amended your title for you this time. Please use more specific titles in future.

    Re: Data sorting question

    In B1 copied down:

    =IF(LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"p",""))>1,A1,"")

Or, if you have 365, in B1:

    =FILTER(A:A,LEN(A:A)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A:A,"p",""))>1,"")
