    Import HTML pages into excel

    Hi,
I would appreciate some help in finding an easy way to import multiple HTM pages into excel. My technical capabilities are minimal for this type of action.
The following website (www.soccerassociation.com) has hundreds of thousands of pages which I need for my own personal statistical purposes.
There is data for 69 countries where Albania is listed first as (ALB). It seems to me that ALB has a country code of 72 judging by this index page, i.e. https://www.soccerassociation.com/72/index.htm. On this index page there is data for 2 leagues, i.e. Kategoria Superiore and Kategoria e Par?. If you select the Kategoria Superiore league there is a list below with season archives from 2007 till 2022 whereby the league table / results can be displayed from round 1 till the end of all rounds for that season. If I select from drop down 2007/2008 and press "view", I land on https://www.soccerassociation.com/72/0708/index0.htm. Then if I select Round 1, I land on https://www.soccerassociation.com/72/0708/A20070825.htm. From what I can see, after /72 (the country code) there is 0708 (which would be the season) and the A20070825 (where A is the first league "Kategoria Superiore"" and 2007 (the year) and 0825 (the date that Round 1 started). What I need to import for ALB is https://www.soccerassociation.com/72/*.* (i.e. all HTM pages for country code 72).
As you can see there would by a lot of pages even for one country let alone 69. I have a list of all 69 country codes.
How can I go about this in an easy fashion please?
    Thanks
    John

    Hey John,

No worries, I've got a simple suggestion for you! To import multiple HTML pages into Excel, you can use the "Data" tab in Excel. Click on "From Web" and enter the URL of the HTML page you want to import. Excel will guide you through the process and let you choose the data you need. Just repeat this for each HTML page you want to import. It's a user-friendly way to get the job done! Let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Cheers!

    @John Sio

Are you still using XL2003 or a later version. Contributors here fashion their responses to the version of XL you are using. There are many features in the later versions of eXcel not available in 2003. Please advise and update your profile if you are using a more current version of excel.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I was aware of the feature you mentioned but if i process my requirement in that way it may literally take me months to complete since there seems to be hundreds of thousands of pages to import. I was looking for an easier way to action this. Thanks again

Re: Import HTML pages into excel

    @alansidman
I am now using excel 2010 version. I have updated my profile.
Question? Have I maybe posted this request in a wrong area?
I havn't reveived many responses to something I thought was doable by someone who knows...

    Maybe Mr. Falcon @63falcondude knows?
Maybe I need to purchase software which does this type of processing? If so, which software?
Or maybe I need a paid commercial service whereby someone performs all necessary processing which I can describe in full since there is further actions required after the import?

Is any moderator in a position to help me?

    Cheers
    John

fyi i actually have to import thousands of these pages and thus i dont really want a table since i need to manipulate the info further after the import process. the scores are correct but the question is how was this done? due to my requirement to import thousands of pages i need the import to do it automatically. if i need to manually set a format prior to the import for the sheet then thats ok too.

    Re: IMPORT = incorrect format

Why would having the data in tabular format prevent you from manipulating it further after import??? Don't understand the logic behind that comment.

Sandy has imported the data using Get & Transform Data > From Web (on the Data ribbon) to access the data.

If you still have Excel 2010, you'd need to download the PowerQuery add-in.

    I have closed the duplicate.

As explained in the duplicate thread, you could do this by installing the PowerQuery add-on for Excel.

@Sandy - pages copied. Just an oversight - it is something I usually do.

Re: Import HTML pages into excel

In actual fact, the two threads are different. It is merely the same example being used for different requirements.
You see, I didn't receive much help on the initial thread so I thought to look into it myself a bit more (with the minimal knowhow that I have) and I came across another stumbling block which I reported on the other thread that has been closed.
I have looked at the video regarding Power query and it is too advanced for me to process in this way.
So, at the moment my 2 issues have not been resolved. Maybe for you they have but not for me.
Is there another more simple way as I requested initially in this thread?
Maybe a macro that can be easily tweaked so I can run it a few times for the different country codes. Everything is clearly described in this initial thread.
I would appreciate if someone has more time to investigate and help a starter like me.
BTW what is are commercial services for? Maybe I need it?
    Thanks
    John

Shall I move the thread to the VBA section for you? You may get a macro solution there.

@AliGW I would dearly appreciate that! What about the other thread though? It is different right? No easy solution for that one?
    Thanks again
