    How can I append tables from a different workbook into one worksheet?

    I have a pallet-level inventory workbook. Each sheet has a pallet manifest in table form (table & sheet name: Pallet_0001, Pallet_0002, etc.). I'm looking to create a new workbook containing one sheet: a combined inventory of all the pallets. I want to lock that workbook so that all changes have to be done on the pallet-level inventory workbook. I've tried using Power Query (which I'm not great with), but I always get one sheet with the combined inventory, and individual pallet inventory sheets behind it. I can't delete the individuals because Excel tells me they're connected to the first, merged inventory, worksheet.

    HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK:
    sFast answers need clear examples. Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands...) and some manually calculated results. For a new thread (1st post), scroll to Manage Attachments, otherwise scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Use Power Query but load each table as a connection, not as a table.
    You can change how they are loaded by going to Data > Queries & Connections > Right click on each of the queries then select Load and change table to connection.

    Thank you, Sandy! Ideally, I'd like to have the merged inventory as part of a standalone file, as opposed to a sheet within the same workbook as the pallet manifest sheets. I'd like to lock changes on the merged inventory file so that all changes have to be made on the pallet-level manifests. I'm sorry that I've made so many errors through this process, and I really appreciate all the help you've given so far. Learning how to do this is almost as important as the end result, so if you have time and willingness, I'd love to learn how you achieve the result.

    try this
    (tailored to your example)
    in A1 you can see path to the source file, change it to your source file then Refresh green table
    you can change data in the green table temporary because if you refresh this table original data will be back
    if you really want block this use Review/Protect Sheet or Protect Workbook but if you do that, you won't be able to refresh your data, to refresh data you'll need unprotect, refresh then protect
