Simple PDF won't convert in Excel

Nothing is 100% the same

So...I guess this is an example of how Excel's ability to convert and read PDF's is not 100%!!

It was a printout from the utility company's website of the user's history.

It was saved or printed to a PDF and then sent to me.

I thought so long as it was in a PDF, then Excel could read and convert it, but I guess that ain't the case.

And, not wanting to beat a "dead horse", but it seems inexplicable that this new feature of Excel: converting PDF to Excel ain't working all that great!

Again, I'm faced with the situation of a simple PDF of 14 transaction lines (of a scan from adding machine tape) that need further analysis, and so it would make sense to take the PDF as a starting point and converted into Excel, let me add a date column and do more analysis.

But, as in this previous situation the PDF is not reading into Excel.

Can anybody from the Group shed some light as to why the simple PDFs are not easily converting into Excel?

There is nothing complicated about the PDFs that would prevent them from being properly interpreted by Excel.

My Excel version does not have this feature so, i used Google Docs to transform your "scanned" image to a human readable format.

But, it seems that the OCR process is not good as expected for your PDF files.

Both of the transformed files are attached....

Question still stands why Excel's built-in feature doesn't work; why should we have to consider a 3rd party app?!

According to my opinion, this feature requires the PDF file to have "real text", not "images of characters".

And whilst that might be true, Adobe Acrobat has the ability to OCR a PDF so that the text is readable.

i believe I OCR'd the PDF that was originally uploaded with this post.

If one wanted to copy & past each line from the PDF, then that's doable.

And yet another example of a PDF not converting to Excel.

Nothing complicated, just wanted to analyze the receipt to find how much 3 cases of bottled water cost.

Why is the converting from PDF to Excel just not working!!??
