    How do I seperate Negatives from Positives

    I'd really welcome some advice.
    I'm trying to do some accounts and my bank is not allowing me to download seperate types of transactions.
    What I'm wanting is the following:
    To seperate crdeits from the debits.
    To do so alphabetically, as it makes it easier to put groups of figs. together in the same column - ie pet insurance.
    The attachment gives a better understanding.

    Many thanks

    Are you still using Excel 2007?

    You can't move things from one column to another without VBA. You'd need separate columns for debits and credits, but easily doable

    Perhaps, use two extra columns to show.

    G6
    =IF($F6<0,$F6,"")

    H6
    =IF($F6>=0,$F6,"")

    Both copied down.

    @Kuler
    Please change your profile to reflect that you are now using XL2016 and not XL2007. Helpers tailor their responses based upon the version of excel you are using.

    Fairly easy with power query

    Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Power Query is a free AddIn for Excel 2010 and 2013, and is built-in functionality from Excel 2016 onwards (where it is referred to as "Get & Transform Data").

    It is a powerful yet simple way of getting, changing and using data from a broad variety of sources, creating steps which may be easily repeated and refreshed. I strongly recommend learning how to use Power Query - it's among the most powerful functionalities of Excel.

    - Follow this link to learn how to install Power Query in Excel 2010 / 2013.

    - Follow this link for an introduction to Power Query functionality.

    - Follow this link for a video which demonstrates how to use Power Query code provided.
