I have some worksheets that are long, thousands of blank rows. I tried the normal delete method to no avail.
How do I delete the empty rows?

I dont think you can 'delete' them however you can hide them from view.
highlight the first blank row and hold ctrl+shift and tap the down arrow, right click and hide. Obviously you will need to unhide them if you need to add more rows to you data
These thousands of blank rows render a large file. So, I prefer to delete them not hide them. Also, I don't want to have to un-hide to use them.
When you press the End Home combo, where does your cursor end?
If it ends at the (known) bottom right of the last row/column of your data, deleting the rest of the rows/columns wont make any difference t0 your file size.
If it does not end up there, click end/home and see where you end up. If it is nowhere near where you know where your data ends, start CAREFULLY deleting rows and columns till you get to where you now your data ends
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

I searched on MS help site and was provided a simple way to removed blank rows . After several attempts, the blank tows still exist
I started a new workbook and copied the items I wanted, not the whole page.
That's the quickest way to resolve it. Well done and thanks for letting us know.

I tried this as you suggested.. The curser ends thousands of rows past my data, I tried deleting the rows to no avail. I ended up copying the data to another sheet and deleting the sheet with the thousands of rows.
