How do I get a pivot table to ignore some values

For example I have 2 columns of data. One column has names and the other a
score. A name can appear many times but I only want the pivot table to show
and count the instances where a certain score was achieved.

Thanks Robert but I'm not sure where that would take me. I was looking for an
option in the pivot table that would only recognize values within a certain
parameter. If this will do that can you steer me to where I can activate it
    please?

i do not believe you can achieve this with a pivot table AND sumproduct tables are easier and do not keep losing their formatting...
