    help - create a multiple choice test

    I want to be able to have the person put an "X" in a cell or check a
    cell and have a numeric value appear in a column to the right of the
    test. Does anyone know if this is possible?

    if the cell containing the X is A1 and the cell in which you want the value is B1 then the formula in B1 is =if(a1="X", 1,"")

    hope this helps

    Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
    Const WS_RANGE As String = "C5:E5" '<=== change to suit

    On Error GoTo ws_exit:
    Application.EnableEvents = False
    If Not Intersect(Target, Me.Range(WS_RANGE)) Is Nothing Then
    With Target
    If .Value = "X" Then
    .Offset(0, 1).Value = 1
    Else
    .Offset(0, 1).Value = ""
    End If
    End With
    End If

    ws_exit:
    Application.EnableEvents = True
    End Sub

    'This is worksheet event code, which means that it needs to be
    'placed in the appropriate worksheet code module, not a standard
    'code module. To do this, right-click on the sheet tab, select
    'the View Code option from the menu, and paste the code in.
