    formating text and background colour

    Hi,

I run a small property rental business in france, log all the bookings on a very simple excel spreadsheet.

Each property has a separate sheet contained within a workbook, they are linked to a main overview page showing all properties for quick reference.

When a property is say provisionally booked I change the background colour to green and red for a confirmed booking (hope this makes sense!)

Changing the data on a property page (i.e. putting in the name of the person booking the property) is linked to the appropriate cell on the overview page and works fine, but I also want that cell to adopt the background colour and text colur I have used on the property page without having to go the overview and change manually.

Is this possible? Just can't seem to get my head round it!! It is probably staring me in the face and just can't see the wood for the trees

Any advice would be gatefully received

    Thanks in anticipation

    Tim

you could try using conditional formatting (format->conditional formatting).
For example, if cell value is null, then background colour green, otherwise red).
