    Legacy Add-In Functionality Lost

I just received a new PC from IT with Excel 2000 installed on it. (This older version of Excel is used for compatibility with an older version of ChemFinder (6.0) used here.) On the new PC, I found that ChemFinder for Excel was not listed on the Add-in menu, so I searched the web and found a fix for this: installing a few files and running CFXLFix.exe. This made ChemFinder for Excel (CFE) an available Add-in on the new PC, and it works fine for new CFE files created; however, the following error message appears when trying to open a legacy CFE file:

“Cannot find ‘C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\LIBRARY\CFXL.xla’!OpenWorksheet which has been assigned to run each time (this file) is opened. Continuing could cause errors…”

Additional errors later appear substituting the words “ActivateWorksheet” and “CloseWorksheet” for “OpenWorksheet” above.

I still have my old PC. I tried replacing the CFXL.xla file on the new PC with the CFXL.xla file from my old PC, but this did not help.

I have MANY CFE files I need to retain functionality on my new PC. Any suggestions?

3/29/2007 After spending a few hours yesterday trying to find a solution with IT, we gave up. It seems the best course is to import export the critical legacy CFE files and import it into the new CFE framwork.
