    Advanced Filter: Having some trouble

    Hello..

I'm trying to get the advanced filter function to work properly, but am having trouble...

I have 1200 or so rows, and each row has 176 fields, with Column Labels for each.

Column labels occupy Row #1 followed by 4 blank rows and then the data begins at A6... A6 to FT1236 is the entire range of the data...

Say I'm looking for data from the following Columns ... Day, Team, OU...
More specifically... I'm looking for games played on Wednesday, by Toronto, with an OU of 6.0.... For the record, DAY is Column B, TEAM is Column C and OU is Column E...

I understood that i was supposed to type WED (directly under the column label for Day).... TOR (under the TEAM label).... and 6.0 (under the OU Label)...

This would bring up ONLY games on WED, played by TOR with a total of 6.0...

So then I click on Advanced Filter...
The computer knows what the proper list range is ($A$6:$FT$1237) but i'm not sure what to put in the Criteria Range...

I've experimented by highlighting different ranges but all i ever get is either nothing at all (it doesnt filter the list at all, just leaves it the way it is), or the first row in the list (so row 6 in this case)...

    any help would be appreciated..

The Criteria Range will be the headers in Row 1 (These must match the headers in Row 6) and Row 2 to 5 depending on the query.

Note say you leave row 3 blank but include in the criteria it won't run. Link below has an example you can download and shows you how to use wildcard searches

thx VBA... managed to get it going...

    one more thing....

When i try to Copy to Another Location... i get an error message saying "You can only copy filtered data to the active sheet"...

While it is filtered on one sheet, i want to be able to paste them to another sheet within the same workbook without having to manually copy/paste the results... Any way to do this, or will i just have to do it manually?
