Date info not in correct order

    Hello,
I have recently received a table that has over 5000 rows and one of the columns is DOB. The format for DOB in this table is yyyymmdd and is consistent using 0 as a placeholder for numbers less than 10.

I have tried to change the cells to the dd/mm/yyyy format using the custom format with no avail. Currently I am in the process of trying to figure out how to create a macro to select a cell, then cut the "yyyy" paste "/yyyy" at the end, then cut "mm" and past "/mm" after the next 2 characters which are the "dd" characters.

If you have any suggestions fire away they would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Carl

You shouldn't need a macro. Try this to convert the dates

    Select column of dates

Data > Text to columns > Next > Next > at step 3, under "column data format" choose date and YMD. Finish

Try this, insert a column next to your dates, select the column of dates go to Data > Text to columns, in step 3 pick Column data format > Date
