Yes, if you click the Insert Hyperlink icon, then in the Look-in dialogue box browse for the file and select it, then press Enter. You should now have a hyperlink to the file, click on it and Visio will open.

I mean a link to a specific Visio worksheet, when there are several worksheets available?
For example link to "Worksheet 3"?

    Hi,

I've been playing around with this one, if you create a hyperlink to the open page (say page 3) of the page in Visio, then click the hyperlink it opens to the page you selected. Then while you are in Visio and click on another page (say page 1) then close Visio. Then try the hyperlink again it opens to page 3.

Another option is to use the Insert > Object > Create from file > Browse, click Display as icon > OK.

Thanks Oldchippy, but few more questions...

how can i create a hyperlink to open a certain page (lets say page 3)?
If i create a hyperlink to a Visio file, it always opens the file on the same page...

Same problem with the Inset Object method you proposed, it doesn't really allow you to spesify the page you want the linked object to refer to, right?
Or is that possible somehow as well?

    This is my scenario:

I have a Visio file with 7 worksheets, and I want to create a page in excel with separate links to all 7 worksheets...

therefore I basically cant just open the Visio file and save it with another worksheet open....

But I want to create this link in Excel, so it's Excel related...

like if I make a link in excel to another excel worksheet, I just add "Sheet3!A1" or something like that to the end of the link...
so I need to find this kind of parameter which will work the same way with Visio worksheets as well...

    Thats a great idea, thanks!

Only problem with this is, that when I have a long list of rows with this kind of paste special icons, and I apply autofilter to the data, it messes up the icons as they dont hold still...

Any ideas how I can make an icons fixed to a specific column so that they don't move away from it?

Can you right click on it, Format Object > Properties > Move and size with cells?

Re: Link from Excel to MS Visio

I know this is an old post, but posting an answer that I found on another forum (http://visguy.com/vgforum/index.php?topic=4941.0):

Well in terms of the hyperlink syntax you can use the following:

    C:\TargetDrawing.vsd#Page-3/Sheet.1?zoom=200

The page reference can be the local or universal name (but not index as far as I'm aware) and the shape reference can be local, universal or NameID (ie 'Sheet.' + ID). The zoom level is optional.

If you have a look at the attached image you can see one example of how you might build up a dynamic link, but broadly the syntax is as above.

    Hope that helps.

    Best regards
