that did the trick. Now if I only understood what I just did!
Here's a breakdown of the formula
First, A1 * B1, total hours * base pay (the easy part)Please Login or Register to view this content.
Second, determine if it's over 40 hours and if so, by how much
Takes the maximum of either Total hours - 40 or zero. SO if A1 is less than 40, A1-40 is negative and Excel chooses "0." If it's greater than 40, then it tells you how much (A1-40)Please Login or Register to view this content.
and (thirdly) takes that number and multiplies it by half (B1/2) their pay scale for time and a half.
