How to structure a modell / data / input

    Hi,

I'm about to start structuring a new model in Excel.

And I will have several layers of data.

    Year: 2004 & 2007
    Type: New Build & Refurbishment
    Size: 1'000 sq.m & 10'000 sq.m

    Which gives me basically 8 data table ( 2 * 2 * 2 )

At the moment I have structured it into 8 different tables. See the attachment.

Is this is most logical way to handle this data? I feel that it very quickly gets difficult to distinguish between what table represent data for what....

The input sheet does look more like the output/display sheet at the moment.

Perhaps you need to construct a table of 320 rows for each unique field.
    something like the following fields.

    Year
    Invest
    SQM
    ENTITY
    UNIT
    SYSTEM_ID
    VALUE

You can then use formula to populate the display layer.

But I guess it depends on how the information is to be inputted.
If individuals are filling in 1 or 2 cells in those tables then that is probably the better layout for data capture.
If somebody is doing a 1 of exercise to create the data then tabular layout may be better suited.
    Cheers
