Opening Excel workbook without refreshing RTD-links

    Hi

I have an Excel document containing RTD-links that bring real-time data from the application "Online Trader" to cells in Excel. When I open the Excel document, the data in the cells is automatically refreshed.

Is it possible for me to open the Excel document without refreshing?

If you're in Excel 2007, you can go to Advanced under Excel Options and check the box that says "Ask to update automatic links." That should make Excel prompt you before it updates anything in the workbook.

In Excel 2003, Edit > Links, click Startup Prompt
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

Hm.. I'm using Excel 2007 but when checking "Ask to update automatic links" I only get prompted for DDE-links - not the RTD-links.

If you're opening the workbook manually, you can set macro security to medium or high beforehand. In the one case, you should get a warning and no RTD, and in the other, no warning and no RTD.

I tried doing so without success. I have also tried changing the add-ins security settings due to the following being said on Microsofts website:

In Excel 2007, RTD security is no longer tied to the macro security settings. Instead, RTD servers are governed by the Add-ins security settings. To examine or modify your add-in security settings, follow these steps
However, if I change the security settings to disable the RTD links, the cell values that are tied to the links get error messages. I want the old data to remain in the cells..
