    Importing PDF tables into excel

    Hi,

I was wondering if any one could help me with my problem.

I have a series of pdf files containing thousands of pages of data tables made up of multiple columns and rows. I have been trying for several days now to succesfully import these into excel with 100% accuracy, as any conversion error would mean alot of editing for me.

I have tried most of the free trial programs you get from google and they are all useless. I have also tried the paid for version of scansoft pdf converter professional, and altho it does a fairly good job, each table is on a separate worksheet (I need one continous table on one worksheet) and the accurarcy is inconsistant. I have also tried converting into txt, rtf or doc and then into excel using zamzar.com to little success. Does anybody know of any other way? Would adobe acrobat professional be the best choice? Typing out the data is not an option - it would take me until the end of time!

    Many thanks

    There are two aspects:

    1. quality of data that is purely down to what software you use to extract the data (and obviously the quality in the original document eg were they print output or scanned images).

    2. The data being on separate sheets isn't too much of a problem as macros can be written to join them all together

    Thanks tony

In the end a combination of using zamzar.com and the macro written on

edited to include headings, did the trick.

    cheers
