trying to make a cell display results from other.

Hi, im sorry about this if it seems really simple to some as im a complete novice in excel and am learning alot still.

Im trying to get the following to work and any forumula help is greatly appreciated.

Set up:

A1 has 1440 in it.
A2 has 55
B2 has 2
A3 has 40
B3 has 3

I wish for A1 to display the total of A1 - A2*B2 and also A1 - A3*B3 and then again for A4*B4 and so on
So with the current values A1 would = 1210

I would like a easy way of adding more cells like D4*C4 to this.

As a general rule, you either have a value in a cell or a calculation.

I can't quite picture what you want to do. How shall A1 show the results of several different calculations?

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

B4 has a #Value! error because you use wrong syntax in its formula.

C4,D4 etc are either empty or show a value of 0, not 1440.

Please provide a workbook that supports your descriptions.

Edit: I think you may want this in B4 and copy to the right:

=$A$2+SUMPRODUCT(B8:B39,$K$8:$K$39)+SUM($O$5:$O$39)
