summing up data in an adjacent cell based on date into a calendar.

Hello, this is my first post and I have tried searching google to find help on the subject but was unable to find anything.

I would like to know if it is possible to insert data (sum of numbers) into an excel calendar based on an adjacent cell (which would be the date).

I have attached a copy of a sample workbook of what I am trying to achieve.

for example, I would like to sum up all of the numbers that are to the left of a cell dated 10/18/2010 and insert them into the next tab in the cell for the 10/18/2010 date on the calendar.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: summing up data in an adjacent cell based on date into a calendar.

If you only have those 5 days, then something like this could work. It would use formulas, and I divided up between those five days on separate lines. I also replaced your calendar with one I made that will automatically update depending on the month and year you select (they are drop downs). Not sure if you cared about that, but I find it useful to keep around instead of always having to download templates. The arrays tab contains the array which translates the text month into the correct number format for Excel.

Hope this at least helps a bit, or gives you some ideas to improve upon.

wow, that looks much better than what I have and helps a bunch.

I can easily tweak this for what I need. Thank you so much for the help.
