    Allowing horizontal scrolling?

    Hi folks,

My Excel 2007 doesn't allow me to scroll horizontally past the viewable window. When I do scroll
past the viewable window area it arbitrarily moves the view back to the first column of the spreadsheet.
    How can I disable that?

    Thanks for your help.

Is that for all workbooks or 1 in particular.

Do you have any code running that would set the scrollarea.

    Hi Andy,

It happens on all of my spreadsheets amd I don't have any code running that would set the scroll area.

Sounds like the sheet is protected with the option to disallow selection of unlocked cells. Unprotect the sheet.

The spreadsheets are all unprotected already. If I type fast I can get an entry in the outer
columns, it's just that the sheet display automatically scrolls back to the first column
no matter where I try to go on the sheet! It's as if there is something in the software that
forces my "view" to be at the front of the spreadhseet.

    Frozen panes?

All workbooks, or just this workbook, or just this sheet of this workbook?

It occurs on all workbooks, sheets, etc.....even on those that it didn't in the past...in other words it is all encompassing!

I'm running out of suggestions. If you don't receive a good one, suggest you do detect & repair: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...0384.aspx#BM11

Thanks shg..I appreciate your efforts. I tried the repair function and it said all was well
and no repairs were needed. I'm downloading a service pack update for my system
[Windows 7 Ultimate] to see if that would help. It seems unlikely but I should install the
update anyway so no harm....I will persevere......

What happens if you use the Goto Dialog?

    CTRL+G
    try going to cell BA100

On the developers tab click Controls > Properties.
Check the ScrollArea property for the active sheet. Is it blank?

Can you post an example workbook.

    Re: Allowing horizontal scrolling?

Problem solved! I loaded a Windows Service Pack 1 update for WIndows 7, x64 bit and it solved the issue! It also cured a vertical scrolling issue I had with my favorites in I.E...

Thanks to all for your efforts and I apologize for apparently mis-diagnosing where the issue originated

CORRECTION !! I spoke too soon, The problem has returned. I must have gremlins in my system.........drat!!!

ANOTHER UPDATE: I've discovered that not only is my horizontal scrolling in Excel behaving this way, but the same phenomena
is now occuring in my favorites pull down menu in Internet Explorer and also in vertical scrolling in my display of installed programs.
It must be something that is prevalent in my entire system! Ugh !!

    Re: Allowing horizontal scrolling?

    YET ANOTHER UPDATE!

As it turns out I appear to have scrolling problems with more than just Excel !! My favorites drop down menu insists on scrolling back up to the first entry making my lower entries inaccessible. I also noticed that this automatic upscroll occurs when I try to look at a list of installed software. I guess my issue is something in the operating system itself. Ugh!
