Hello,
I am trying to create a sheet that will keep track of profit on the sale of individual items and convert the currency from Mex Pesos to US Dollars. I am new to excel so I am having a hard time.
I have several Columns tracking different things but the primary Columns and cells with what they contain are as follows:
Cost Dollars, Cost Pesos, SOLD Dollars, SOLD Pesos, Profit Dollars, Profit Pesos
The Cost Dollars and Pesos cells contain a fixed number which is the cost for the item.
In the SOLD Dollars cell has this formula
=IF(ISBLANK(I2),"",I2/13) which will convert the sale to dollars once I type in a number in the next cell which is SOLD Pesos which is currently blank.
In the "Profit" cell I have this formula =IF(ISBLANK(H2),NA(),H2-B2) which calculates the results from the SOLD Dollars cell.
Finally in the "Profit Pesos" cell I have this formula =IF(ISBLANK(I2),"",I2-C2)
It works great when I insert a number in the "SOLD Pesos" cell. Everything calculates the way its suppose too. The problem is that when the "SOLD Pesos" cell is empty the "Profit Dollars" cell says #VALUE. I know its saying that there is no value because there is a formula in the "SOLD Dollars" cell and its waiting for a value to appear but I want to have the Profit Dollars cell stay BLANK until the "SOLD Dollars" cell calculates a value from the formula it has. However the SOLD Dollars cell cant have a value until I type in the amount of the sale in "SOLD Pesos" cell.
So I guess I just don't like the fact that it says #VALUE and Id like to leave it blank until in insert the data in the corresponding cell. My apologies if this is hard to understand. I am attaching the sheet as well so you can more clearly see the problem. I know I used headings instead of cells to describe the problem but again I am new to Exel. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you very much!
