    How do I remove Auto Cell Formatting in Excel 2011 (mac)

    I have Excel 2011 (Mac) and I have a huge problem... I scoured the internet and couldn't find an answer to a simple problem.

    How do I remove Auto Cell formatting? i.e. when I type "1-4" it changes to January 4th....

    Wow... this is ridiculous i'm telling you...

    Welcome to the forum.

    Format the cell as Text beforehand.
