trying to find what percentage of two numbers equals a third number

Hi,

Im struggling to write a worksheet to calculate how to come up with a target number using percentages of two other numbers. Obviously I could just goo the long winded way and break the percentages down 1 by 1 and just number crunch through it. But i would like the calculation to be recyclable as in the future all three numbers are likely to change and going through it all again isnt that appealing.

If it helps you imagine it any better the target number is my rent, and the two other numbers are me and my missus salary

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I dont even know where to begin the calculation.

Welcome to the forum

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
