3 decimal issue

I feed some data into excel which enters around 400 numbers, 200-250 of these numbers are 3 decimal places and the remaining are 2 decimal places. I want to be able for Excel to accept the data and keep the 2 decimal numbers as is but automatically convert (and if possible round) the 3 decimal numbers into 2 decimal places. I know one way is to select the numbers and clicking the decrease decimal places button but there has to be a more permanent solution for this.

Select the cells/rows/columns/whatever and then format as number with 2 decimal places.
