How to Create DYNAMIC Invoice Template

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to create a dynamic invoice that has one main invoice worksheet that references a worksheet with client billing information.
Keep in mind that line items will differ between clients, and ideally I'd want to be able to:

Have date autopopulate, included in every line item
Select a client, which populates billing info as well as the invoice # nomenclature specific to that client
Be able to have client line items specific to the client populate based on the dropdown I select

Overall, no real specific guidelines, just trying to pick some other people's brains about how to approach a dynamic invoicing template. To preface, we have about 60 clients.

    Thanks!

    Ben

Setup the database(worksheet) with a sample client data(billing info and line items). At least 2 dummy clients and at least 2 line items.

Then setup the blank invoice(template) the way you want it to look. I will help with the functionality.

Then attach the samples/invoice workbook inside this thread.

    Thanks Dennis.

As you can see in the attached, I have the Database set up with 2 "Companies."
I have some uniform invoice info up top in the database that will apply to all invoices, and the Type in O2:Q2 that I can use to choose the "item" on the template. I figure at this point I'll shoot what I have over to you and see what your next steps would be. Feel free to input your creativity into it! It's much appreciated! Obviously, the biggest part will be the variation of line items between clients, rendering a dropdown pretty difficult. I wonder if I can do a dropdown by client on the template, so that whatever client I choose will fill in all the relevant info. Not sure how feasible that is.
Also, as of now, I don't have a good way of updating the invoice numbers to add 1 for each new month -- as in, an invoice #24 in Feb will be 25 when March rolls around (this is highlighted in yellow).Invoice Template.xls

    Thank you!
Interested to see what your tweaks/thoughts are.
