    filter problem

Hi. I have 4 columns that I need to advanced filter and show results only by the year 2009. How can I make a working 2009 year criteria to work for this? Thanks.

    Re: filter problem

hi prologueden, u do not need to use Advanced Filter if u just need 1 single criteria. a normal Autofilter will do. select your 4 columns & go to Home -> Sort & Filter -> Filter. Then click the box on the right side of your Year column & choose 2009. Upload an eg if you need something more.

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Re: filter problem

So do both column G and I need to be 2009? It appears that both dates happen quickly after one another, are there many instances that G and I dates are in different years?

No, it doesn't matter because the years are the same on G and I. So only the values with 2009 need to be filtered.

hi prologueden, i provided 3 solutions here. A normal autofilter will suffice since u said both the years will be the same. I also did an Advanced filter, but as u can see, they produce the same results. The difference is that it does not retain the data which is not 2009. Both the Autofilter & Advanced filter will still show more than 4 columns though. The 3rd solution is the Pivot table
