Looking for a MAXIF and MINIF function

I am using the function SUMIF to add numbers that meet certain criteria. My problem is that I also want to find the MIN and MAX values for the same found numbers. For example the formula I am using is as follows:

=SUMIF($AI$39:$AI$1049,"="&AW22,$Z$39:$Z$1049)

If the value AW22 is found in the data series AI39:AI1049 then add the corresponding values in Z39:Z1049 together. This gives me the total but I also want to find the MAX and MIN values as well. I need a function like MAXIF or MINIF. Does anyone know how to work around this problem.

copy this formula, paste into the formula bar & hit CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER
you should see curly brackets surrounding it. for MIN, just change the word "MAX" to "MIN".
