    Can Excel chart datapoints without you having to make a full chart?

    Im in the process of doing a break even analysis for a buisness which has a formula:

    BEP = TFC / (SUP - VCUP)
    BEP Break Even Point
    TFC Total Fixed Costs
    SUP Variable Costs per unit of production
    VCUP Selling price of unit

    Since I dont need a chart to figure out the break even point Id rather not have a full table full of data points if I dont have to is there a way to get excel to just extrapolate the data and give me a chart, if not thats fine I can always just make a table, I just would rather not

    Thanks.

    As far as I know Excel only plots on a chart what it reads on the sheet itself. No data, no chart. But a line chart easily intrapolates between two points, so you don't need a full table full of data points, you just need one data point before your break even and one after your break even. If you don't understand what I mean, upload an example and I will show you.

    If you know TFC, SUP, and VCUP, then you just need a formula, not a chart. Note that VCUP must exceed SUP or you'll never break even. Your formula should be BEP=TFC/(VCUP-SUP).

    If you need to show this graphically, then as bongaan says, you need to plot numbers from the worksheet. You need to plot costs vs revenue. Costs are TFC+N*SUP while revenue is N*VCUP. So the cost line intersects the Y axis at TFC and has a slope of SUP, while revenue intersects at zero and has a slope of VCUP. Where the lines intersect is your break even point
