IF statments

Need a bit of help ASAP.

I have a a single excel file with 2 sheets.

Sheet 1 contains:
Asset number (unique values, no duplicates)
User ID

Sheet 2 contains
Asset tag (many duplicates)
user ID (blank field)


I need the following:

IF "ASSET TAG" in SHEET2 equals "ASSET TAG"sheet1. Copy USER ID from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2.

Remember, there are duplicate asset tags in sheet 2.


This is a work project and will save me hours of work. I'm not good at excel.....

hi Mike, welcome to the forum. please see attached. not sure how you want to handle duplicates, so i offered 2 solutions. 1 is to still return the field, the other is to show a blank when it's a duplicate
