Help with Conditional Formatting Duplicate Values

Hi

I would like to compare the values in two Excel 2007 columns to find duplicates on the same row. When I use conditional formatting>duplicates I am identifying duplicates on the same row in separate columns as well as duplicates within one column on separate rows. I have attached a worksheet example.

I would use "Use a formula ..." rather than "Format only unique or duplicate values". Highlight the range you want the formatting to apply to (A1 through B24 in your example) and set the formula to

hi alcharbonneau. it's been awhile eh? not sure if i understand right; what you need is just highlight those that are duplicates on the same row. select the range you want to apply to (i.e. A1:B24)
go to Home -> Conditional Formatting -> New Rule -> Use a formula to determine which cells to format -> Format values where this formula is true:
=$A1=$B1

1. Select range in Column B
2. Conditional formatting
3. Use Formula....
4. =$A1=$B1
5. Choose color
6. Apply

Hi

Indeed it has been a while. For the most part, I have managed to muddle through my Excel challenges without bothering people on the forum. I have been thinking about one of your countrymen Lee Kuan Yew who has written a book "The Grand Master's Insights on China, the United States, and the World" which I have ordered and anticipate reading. I hope he makes helpful suggestions that people in the US are willing to listen to?

ahhh that's good to hear, although that would mean less "business" for us.

wow ordered eh? he's a well-respected man here who contributed much for us, but i didnt even know of such a book. =x
well, i hope it's worth your anticipation & does provide helpful suggestions too. hope we see you again soon~ (although that would mean you're in an excel trouble)
