Lightbulb How to use a cell value as the "To value" value on Goal Seeking

    Hello,

I have been looking for the solution for this problem for hours now, and I can't seem to find it, since the only results that show up when you include Excel goal seeking in your search are basci guides on how to use the Goal Seek feature.

A detailed description of my problem:
I am trying to implement a button in my worksheet, and the macro connected to it is supposed to Goal Seek with values informed by the user. I need the button implemented since most of the people who are going to use the worksheet are not much familiar with Excel.

So, the question is, how do I use a cell value for the "To value" field of the Goal Seek feature?

The picture below illustrates my problem - I want to reach a minimun of Y on Z by variating X.

    Thanks in advance

I don't know how others would do it. I would add another cell (maybe hidden if you think your users will have trouble with it) that contains the formula =C3-D3. Then your goal seek can be to set this helper cell equal to a value of 0 by changing B3.

Re: How to use a cell value as the "To value" value on Goal Seeking

    Hey, thanks for answering.

The image is just a sample of what I need to do. The problem I have is a little more complex - there is no way of doing it without the value the user has inserted.
I tried to record a macro that manually copies the value from the cell, but the operation of copying is canceled when the operation of goal seeking is started.
Also tried to create a new worksheet after the operation of goal seeking is started, but no luck there too, it just doesn't let me do anything while the goal seeking window is popped-up - apparently there is no way to insert the value of a cell into the "To value" field, and that's exactly the thing.
