    Remove Duplicate rows

    Hi all,

I have to run a report each day and export into Excel 2010.

The report will include customers who have tried to register an account multiple times - I need to delete all but 1 of these rows.

I've tried the remove duplicate feature in Excel but that doesn't do the trick.

Is there a formula I can use to do this please?

I've attached an example sheet and would be REALLY grateful if anyone can help.

    Many many thanks in advance.

    Re: Remove Duplicate rows

You can use this Formulas in the new sheet, Fill down and fill to right. So the speed is slow, you should use VBA for this case.

Finish by Ctrl + Shift + Enter, not Enter

Hi dhn46, thank you very much for taking the time to reply - excuse my ignorance as I'm not too great with Excel, where should I put the formula you suggest please?

    What is VBA?

    Re: Remove Duplicate rows

you probably got to try this & tell us why is it not working for you:
select a single cell of the data. go to Data tab-> Remove Duplicates. Check the option that "My data has headers". Unselect All & check the items that will consider the row as duplicate. so probably Session ID, First Name, Last Name. then press ok

if you are worried the whole data is not selected, you can select A1 & then CTRL + SHIFT + DOWN, then CTRL + SHIFT + RIGHT, before going to Remove Duplicates

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Re: Remove Duplicate rows

Thank you very much both for replying to me... and so fast too, much appreciated.

It appears the "remove duplicates" feature does work after all, I just wasn't using it correctly, i.e. left the "select all" box checked. By following your instructions benishiryo, it's now functioning as it should.

dhn46, I've downloaded your attached file - thank you.

I'll mark this thread as solved and tick the nice feedback options.

    Re: Remove Duplicate rows

I thing with this case you should use VBA (Visual Basic for application programming). Because your data is big, many row, if you use formulas the spreatesheet caculate is very slow. You see the attach file use VBA. Remember to enable Macros, click the Run Unique button in sheet new reg and the result in sheet result
    Hope to help you!
