Sorting large groups of data..

Hey guys, I have about 2300 rows of data and about 20 columns across.

I have groups of people with stats and each group is labeled with a number. I am trying to put all the groups that are the same in consecutive rows so it makes it easy for me to find the averages and sums.

Seems pretty simple enough but everytime I try and sort the data based on the number excel seems to freeze and then just randomly deletes entire rows of data.

Does anyone have an explanation or a better way to solve this problem?

Can you upload the file (as long as it does not contain provate info)?

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Actually you only have 446 rows of data, the rest are just merged cells - and this is just another example of why merged cells should be avoided if at ALL possible.

I have removed all the merging and deleted the resulting "blank" rows. I think you will find that if you sort now, it will all sort properly.

Let me know how you make out please?
