Selecting data from a drop down list in Excel 2010 Data Validation

I have set up data validation in a spreadsheet using a list as the source but I am not getting the result I was expecting.

I thought that I would be able to enter the first letter of the word I want to enter in the cell and have the list automatically drop down, with the first word in the list that begins with that letter highlighted.

Is there a way to have that happen?

It's called AutoComplete, and Data Validation drop-downs do not support this. However, you can use a Combo box instead, and Debra Dalgleish shows how to set this up here:
